One of the many things I love about fandom is the action figures, and the possibilities they present! I confess that I have taken to carrying a couple of them around in my purse, because you just never know when a photo op will present itself *grins*

I started out with SG1 figures (ah, my Daniel and Cam....) and added SGA (oooh, John and Rodney!) shortly thereafter. Then I fell in love with the Eleventh Doctor, so he had to join the group, and after The Day of the Doctor, the Tenth Doctor had to come along to keep Eleven company.

This year, all six of them came with me to Squee Weekend, and all sorts of hilarity ensued (BIG thanks to sgamadison and selenic76 for joining in the fun, and suggesting poses both appropriate and not ;-))

Aaaah nice to see something from your figures! But only six? I have a few more ;) I have the SG-1 team alone in three different kind of uniforms (green, black, desert) plus green and blue BDUs for Jack and Daniel. And many many of the other figures both from SG-1 and Atlantis.

And lots of the Doctor Who and Torchwood figures as well. And recently they starte to come out with Arrow figures which I am now collecting - they have even more joints than the Stargate figures and are absolutely awesome. Sadly, they don't come with as many accessories as the SG figures - I loved the ramp and the gate and the DHD and the MALP and the ring transporters and the Atlantis chair... and all the small stuff for specific characteres.

The box you have the jewelry in, I use to keep all the small accessory stuff. I have several of those boxes, I love them!

That pizza box is absolutely awesome! One needs to keep their eyes open, you can use so many things. I used one of the plastic things in the middle of the pizza box as a chair once.

To meet with friends and have fun with the figures together is the best! Sometimes, I just put them at the table, it never takes long until somebody starts to play.

Here is a teaser of what I did a few weeks back with my friends:

I love your dig set up!

I only took 6 figures with me that weekend; I didn't have that much room in my suitcase (I brought crafting supplies also), so my other SG1 and SGA figures had to stay home with Amy and Rory :-/

The Eleventh Doctor fits nicely into my purse, though, so he goes with me everywhere now :-) The Tenth Doctor has been joining him lately, so they can have adventures together. They came with us to a wedding last fall, and another friend brought her 12 inch Tenth Doctor, and we had a great time photographing them together. The best part was that it was a Doctor Who-themed wedding, so they fit right in!

It's really fun to take them to conventions with us, and see who's willing to play with them :-)

Glad to hear you have more! The way you phrased it sounded as if those were the only ones. Sorry ;) One can never have too many figures in my opinion. I even started to collect other figures as well - apparently there were some with MacDonald's meals - women from all over the world in their traditional clothing. We'll see how I can use those one day!

Did you ever read that entry I wrote about how I started and my life with action figures? I interviewed myself, basically ;) It can be found on this page:

That wedding sounds wonderful! I once put my figures out in a pub in Vancouver and it ended with Jack and Daniel fishing out of the beer glass:

I only take mine to conventions or when I go to vacations to the UK, but not all of them, recently I take more one of the big 1:6 scale figures. Jack even met John Barrowman!

Hiya! Another John Barrowman fan I see! I have met him several times actually. The picture happened in January, each year we travel to Glasgow to see him live on stage in pantomime, which is a family musical with lots of singing and dancing and fun. Best thing ever.

I've also met him a few times at conventions - my icon is from one of these. He does much more than just the ordinary hug. If you are in the US, he is doing conventions all over the country, I'm sure one day you will be able to meet him as well! Right this weekend the whole Torchwood gang is at Gallifrey One in LA.

I also have tickets for his concert tour at the end of May in the UK. Can't wait for that, the last tour was in 2011.

If you are a fan of him, would you like to come over to my LJ? You will find detailed concert reports and convention reports and pantomime reports and also pictures of my travels to the UK and much more hopefully interesting stuff. And action figure pictures! Lots of action figure stories.

Always nice to meet another fan! Do you watch Arrow as well? He plays a great bad guy in there!

Oh the memories these pictures bring ^_^ I loved watching you and sgamadison set up the figures and take pictures, you both had such brilliant ideas! (Like the background pictures you used) Maybe the next time I get to come to SW I will take part even more, it was fun ^_^ (I'll be honest, it felt a bit awkward at first, didn't really know what I could do with the figures, especially since they aren't mine...)

Thank you for sharing these, and for the smiles ^_^

When the Stargate figures originally came out, I only wanted a Jack, as I was a Jack fan. Then I read if you get the whole team, you get pieces for the gate. Of course I wanted that. So my collection grew and grew as I also needed the ramp, the DHD, the MALP... LOL

Then I saw some funny pictures on the internet and wanted to so some as well. I invited some friends and told them they should bring everything that looks Egyptian. Some had lovely stuff. Still I was a bit hesitant, as I thought I can't force them to be interested in that as well, can I? So I put it all on the table, sat at the sofa and then was amazed how many hands were setting up a lovely scene, I hardly had time to blink! Over the years we have done many many more and have become more professional in background settings and lighting, but this first evening will be always special.

And we always laughed so much and had fun. Some scenes I do set up on my own, and plan it all beforehand, but the best are these that happen just because someone has a silly idea and someone else comments. And sometimes the figures get a mind of their own, falling over or lying in a special pose...

You need to be a bit carefully of not breaking off their hands at the wrists, but otherwise, you can do everything you want. They are waterproof also, we put our Jack in a fountain in Vancouver. We took them to originally Stargate shooting locations in Vancouver actually, I even had a big bug to sit on Teal'c's backside... Great memories. As I said in my other reply, just click the links and have a look!

And maybe one day you might buy your own ;) I have converted more than one friend into it. One of my friends is even making clothes and lots of props for her Jack, she takes him skiing and bike riding in the nature, awesome. On some pictures, he looks so real.
